At very cold temperatures, oxygen changes
from a gas to a liquid. When liquid oxygen is warmed, it becomes a gas so it
can be delivered to you.
A liquid oxygen system includes a large
stationary reservoir, a small, portable
(weighing from 3.6 to 13 pounds) that can be filled from the stationary
reservoir for mobility. And can be hung
over the shoulder or pulled on a roller cart.
How long it lasts depends on
the size of the portable tank and the flow rate.
Even when not in use, evaporation will empty
the reservoir and portable tank over time. Always check your portable tank
before use. Average evaporation is one
(1) pound every 24 hours.

OXYGEN
CONCENTRATOR
An
Oxygen Concentrator, sometimes referred to as a compressor or condenser is a sophisticated
medical oxygen producing machine, consisting of a series of filters that turns
ordinary breathing air (21% oxygen) into medical oxygen of 90% oxygen and greater.
Oxygen
Concentrators produce medical oxygen at flow rates of ½ Liter to 10 Liters per
minute on a continuous flow basis. Oxygen Concentrators are not fitted with
conserving devices.
|
Oxygen Concentrators
operate on electricity. The United States,
Canada, parts of Mexico, Guam and Japan have a
power grid of 110V/220V, 60 Hz.* The rest of the world has a power grid of
110V/220V, 50 Hz. The 10 Hz fluctuation is
a major problem for travelers if their
Oxygen Concentrator does not have a built-in
computer that can distinguish the
difference in the frequency. Attempting to use an
Oxygen Concentrator in a different power grid
other than the one their unit was designed
for can result in severe damage to the unit
and the user. |
Changing
the configuration of the electrical plug will not satisfy the frequency requirements
and will only cause more damage to your concentrator.
All
of our Oxygen Concentrators rentals include Nasal Cannulas and Tubing at no
additional charge. Other accessories such as Humidifiers are available at
minimal cost.
Because
of the ever changing world we live in, we highly recommend that you leave your
oxygen concentrator and all gas and liquid oxygen tanks/cylinders at home and rent
everything that you need from us. This
way, you will know that the equipment that you need works in the area or
country you are going to and you don’t have to worry about excess baggage
restrictions/charges or transporting dangerous or hazardous goods, especially
on airplanes.
